As you might have read, Aurélie and I had a great moment in our lifes this week with the birth of our son: Luca
Luca Dechamps Pols was born this Wednesday at 20h34, he weighted 3,260 kg and measured 50cm. It’s too soon to tell from whom he got his looks, but I can tell that he has his mother’s eyes (Russian influence).
I wanted to thank all emails and messages (sms, facebook, skype & twitter) that we have received. It is really a special moment and now we will start discovering how this is going to change our lifes. A friend of ours told me that without doing too complex statistics he could tell that we would spend less time facing computer screens
But not all changes and this is why Saturday I’ll be flying to San Francisco to attend eMetrics (our little tradition). This time, as you might understand, Aurélie won’t be able to attend, but I’ll do my best to represent her, specially in the Industry Insights Day. I’m also proud to attend this year eMetrics as Jim just asked me to join his Advisory Council. Thank you Godfather, I hope to match your expectations.
eMetrics, as you know is the Mecca of Web Analytics. Everybody involved in Web Analytics should at least attend once eMetrics San Francisco (and more if possible)!
I just wanted to publish a quick note to announce that we have just launched the first Web Analytics Forum in french end of last week. The objective of this forum is to increase the awareness of Web Analytics in the French speaking countries. It is also an experiment that Aurélie and Julien wanted to launch to see how people would react to it.
I’m pleased to announce that it seems to start very nicely as we have french speaking Industry experts as Stéphane Hamel and Jacques Warren that seem to have appreciated the initiative. In less than a week, the forum counts 52 members and has over 70 messages published!
Julien, our Country Manager in France has worked these past weeks to make it happen and is the current moderator, nevertheless, the idea is to invite other people to also moderate this forum as we want to keep it neutral and open to everybody. If you would like to help in this initiative, please don’t hesitate to drop us an email.
If you speak french, I strongly suggest you to have a look and please contribute as we want this forum to be the french reference in the area.
Thank you Julien for the work you have done and let’s see how it goes in the coming months.
As you know from other posts, OX2 was just recently acquired by the LBi Group, and will partner with their offices throughout Europe and the U.S., especially with the office in Brussels. I had the pleasure of meeting with the Brussels team just a couple weeks ago, at an annual event to review the progress made in 2007, and the anticipated growth we expect for 2008. I came away quite excited at the prospects of growing large accounts to their potential, given the group’s historic strengths in online marketing, and the OX2 team’s addition of strong web analytics to drive creativity with accountability and measurable return on marketing spend.
The people are clearly top-notch — they know how to work hard, and they certainly know how to play hard, which is just what’s needed to foster creativity while staying grounded in marketing fundamentals and maintaining a disciplined project delivery approach. Their recent revenue growth is proof of their success, and it’s pretty obvious that this will continue to grow for at least the next few years as the OX2 way of thinking about web analytics as a cornerstone of marketing culture spreads throughout the rest of the LBi group.
Beyond the high caliber of the employees overall, I was also impressed with the executive management team in particular, led by Benoit Lips. They have a strong background in understanding their clients’ needs, and ensuring that their work is effective in meeting those needs, rather than simply winning “beauty contests” with flashy (yet ineffective) campaigns, or trying to impress other ad agencies instead of building a client’s brand in the eyes of the customer.
I knew it would be a fun ride when I joined OX2 a few months ago — and now it looks as though it’s only going to get more exciting!
Of course, if you’re not already a partner of OX2 or LBi, we hope you’ll get in touch with us to see how we might be able to work together to help you establish and surpass your online marketing goals.
It had been brewing for quite some time as my little Web Analytics unit has been expanding its consulting offers related to Web and Customer Analytics well beyond the Belgian borders, actually all over Europe, in order to help companies reap the benefits of measurement and accountability of the online media.
While WebTrends first landed on my desk, in another lifetime back in 1999, as a business analyst, I felt help would inevitably be needed to get the most out of what Web Analytics coud bring to any business. And so when René asked me to help him set-up OX2, an Interactive Agency, back in 2003, my initial request was to set-up a Web Analytics team as well.
Brussels, October 16th 2007 — Eric Peterson becomes shareholder of OX2, the Belgian/pan-European interactive agency leader in the field of measurement and analysis of online behavior, also known as Web Analytics or WA. Eric Peterson becomes a shareholder as well as a member of the agency’s board. As such, Eric’s mission will be to influence the WebAnalytics.be business unit by confronting his vision of web analytics against that of Aurélie Pols (Web Analytics Team Leader chez OX2). Eric Peterson will also travel to Europe to assist OX2’s European clients, should they require his unique presentation and strategic workshop management skills. Here’s the video that we sent for the BarCamp event last week-end in Buenos Aires. I was requested to speak about the state of Web analytics in Europe and give some examples of things that we were doing with Web Analytics for our clients. As you can hear it’s in Spanish.
With the recent arrival of Dave Rhee at OX2, our web analytics team now includes three full-fledged Omniture Certified Professionals, including Aurélie and yours truly. This is due in great part to the partnership that was just signed between Omniture and OX2 and announced by Neil Morgan during the Web Analytics Day on September 14th. Neil graciously acknowledged OX2’s expertise with Omniture since both Dave and myself had the unique opportunity to deploy Omniture’s web analytics tools for Fortune 500 companies and now this expertise is officially available to OX2 clients.
OX2 is now Omniture’s preferred partner for Belgium but our partnership extends of course to France, Germany, and beyond!
Adding Omniture to our skill portfolio was a logical step in our quest to best serve the interests of our clients and help them grow their online strategy by taking decisions based on hard, concrete data.
Thanks to the Omniture team for placing their trust in us and we are looking forward to a fruitful collaboration!
The Web Analytics Day was also a good occasion for OX2 to present Dave and myself as Analytics Country Managers for Germany and France respectively, with Aurélie leading our (increasingly) European activities from our Brussels offices. This reinforced OX2’s image as a leading pan-European consultancy in the field of Web Analytics as well as bringing more credit to our position as a vendor-independent agency.
As you can see from the map here, there is plenty of room for us to grow but we’re working on it
Take note in your calendar that OX2 and Omniture will both be presenting at the Customer First event in Brussels between October 18th and 19th.
Thanks for reading and, as usual, constructive comments are welcome
